Decoding One’s True Golf Swing DNA: Part Eleven
I can always revisit part or all of this topic at some point, but Decoding One’s True Golf Swing DNA comes to an end for now with this post. I have revealed critical relationships previously undisclosed and established foundational golf swing elements that need to be understood before being able to correctly understand many clubfitting aspects that follow. From some of my remaining notes I conclude this subject with the following comments.
Just as there is no such thing as an absolutely perfect golf swing or club, I can assure you that only in absolute theory and not practice is there a perfectly attainable swing DNA to work with for any golfer’s swing and/or equipment fitting processes. But the better one understands certain facets about swinging a golf club, the closer to perfect the acquired swing DNA will be. Comprehending the true reason for why a golf club is gripped the way it is (and where that knowledge leads) results in the ability to obtain a swing DNA accuracy virtually a light-year ahead of that which can be acquired through any and all golf swing theories of the past. The importance of this pursuit toward achieving better swing and clubfitting results will become clearer as Waggle Weight Wisdom continues.
The degree of precision one wants to secure when trying to ascertain one’s golf swing DNA may be based on several factors, including exactly what the DNA is going to be used for to subsequently determine. When fitting clubs for instance, trying to rightly determine whether to use an S300 versus an S400 shaft in one’s clubs (identical except for a difference in weight of about two grams) will reasonably require a more accurate swing DNA to start with than that needed to determine whether one needs a standard or mid-size grip (a difference of approximately four traditional grip sizes between them). Logically, all succeeding swing and/or clubfitting results that are derived from a given swing DNA at the start can only be as valid as that DNA acquired at the start.
Based on what has been covered to this point, the common saying that one’s hold on a golf club is the most important aspect of learning to swing/play well can be expanded, adjusted, and made more relevant. The most important elements of playing golf well are to be able to produce one’s golf grip using only the limbs of one’s body, to thereafter be able to make one’s golf swing also using only the limbs of one’s body, and to be able to transfer one’s limb-only grip to actual golf clubs for the also-important process of fitting clubs to one’s swing. These processes are perhaps the most critical to comprehend and be able to implement if one is to ultimately play golf to the best of one’s ability. Yet there is more work to do, as the word “transfer” in the above statement can take on a meaning of its own. One can transfer a limb-only grip to a golf club in such a way that one is fundamentally fitting the club to one’s swing, but alternately one can transfer the same grip in such a way that one is fundamentally fitting one’s swing to the club instead. This will be explained next when Waggle Weight Wisdom reasons out golf club fitting the way it should be reasoned, not the way(s) it has been reasoned in the past.
Today’s computer technology can certainly make it easier to analyze any aspect of even a clubless golf swing. To illustrate, some swing teachers find the angle of a golf club’s face relative to the shaft line and/or the angle of the shaft relative to the target line when at the top of one’s backswing to be vital data, even though such angles can vary widely among golfers while accomplishments achieved are virtually identical. Computer-generated golf clubs might be added to one’s clubless, base swing using the technology available today. Accordingly, position and/or movement data of various clubs and/or club parts may still be tracked if desired during one’s swing, yet one’s true swing DNA will not be affected by any externally added clubs or other devices.
Make no mistake, however, the limb-only gripping and swinging means is not instituted here just for the purpose of being able to take advantage of available modern technology. These are very basic issues solved by unprecedented concepts that could have and should have been revealed for all intents and purposes when the melding together of one’s hands to form a secure golf grip first became commonplace in golf, around a century ago, but were not for whatever reason(s). The truth is that implementing the limb-only swinging process can lead to more correct and relevant results with respect to solving golf swing and/or equipment fitting issues even when using less or even no computer or other aid (such as video) than when implementing every modern technological aid available and applying the golf swing and equipment fitting theories and practices of the past.
To be blunt, any golf swing instructor or advisor that is not capable of understanding the basics and finer details of what is good about one’s golf swing and what might use further development when observing one’s swing under limb-only conditions is not very good. Every bit of required and intrinsic (not externally influenced) swing data for purposes including but not limited to further swing development and/or golf club fitting can only be acquired thorough clubless swinging circumstances (with or without technologically advanced help). With the noted adverse affects that any given golf club(s) or substitute device(s) can potentially have on one’s true swing and swing DNA (this will always hold true even if the custom clubfitting industry shows substantial improvement in the future), one may wonder how anyone could be considered a qualified swing teacher (or clubfitter) if he/she considers one’s root golf swing from which to work to be a swing made with any golf club or substitute device in hand.
Last but not least, like most things in life, subjects not understood usually seem complex and matters understood generally appear simple (and can be explained in simple terms by an able entity). If I failed to make Decoding One’s True Golf Swing DNA uncomplicated to understand when reading through it the first time, I hope you will choose to reread the material until comprehended better and/or contact me with your comments (good or bad) that may help to improve the material in the future. Hopefully it will not take much more time to realize how universal, accurate, and really quite simple the disclosed theories and practices are, even though the concepts have previously been quite foreign and unobvious to the golf industry as a whole. The industry to date has arguably presented some of the worst swing and equipment fitting concepts ever produced anywhere, and this must stop. Reasons for this current situation, many of which can be linked together in some manner, include but are hardly limited to the almost unheard of facet in golf of switching between totally independent equipment pieces for successive swings, and a related (and blinding) preoccupation by most people that a good golf swing is incredibly difficult to accomplish.
The knowledge revealed in Decoding One’s True Golf Swing DNA is so elementary that one might think after learning it there is an automatic right to start using it as freely as the air one breathes. But as can be seen in my prior post, this intellectual property is patent pending. The application has been evaluated by an international body and judged to be valid, although this does not guarantee a granted patent by any given individual country. In fact, the waggle weight patent application was initially flatly rejected through the same international preliminary inspection process, yet the advanced golf club specification has recently been issued two patents. Anyway, assuming that the application discussed in my prior post will issue into a patent, from that point one is potentially subject to legal action and damages for years to come if used without the authorization of the WaggleWeight™ Company. Damages can even be awarded in arrears back to the date the application was published, which in this particular case was January 15, 2009. The property includes but is not limited to developing one’s golf swing under limb-only conditions and a clubfitting method that incorporates fitting clubs to one’s true swing. Procedures are logically linked to certain unique attributes of golfing, culminating in more correct solutions. Resultantly, all previous swinging and clubfitting processes are essentially rendered obsolete.
Please contact the WaggleWeight™ Company if interested in obtaining authorization to use any of its property for your game and/or business. And in the best interest of golf’s future, if suspecting anyone else (individually or organizationally) of the unauthorized use of any intellectual property assets belonging to the WaggleWeight Company (this absolutely includes any copyrighted Waggle Weight Wisdom material), we would be appreciative if you would please let us know.
